Course objectives
The seminar offers the opportunity to deal with historical and methodological problems of music aesthetics, semiotics and theory of communication and to explore the processes of music production, interpretation and reception from the viewpoint of the mentioned musicological branches. The individual research work of the students can be also oriented towards semantic analysis of singular music compositions, research of interactions between music and the other kinds of art and semantic analysis and/or hermeneutics of verbal texts concerning music. Furthermore it is possible to elaborate in the framework of this seminar essays dealing with the history of musicological thought the orientation of which tends to aesthetics and semiotics.
