Course objectives
The main objectiv of the course is to learn about the Languages in ancient Italy during the first millennium BC.
Syllabus
  • Languages in ancient Italy during the first millennium BC; their geographic distribution and degrees of autochthony; the place of Latin within the Indo-European language family, the beginnings of writing in Italy; the spread of the Greek alphabet, Etruscan; other ancient Italian non Indo-European languages; the so-called palaeo-Italian Indo-European languages.
