- Course objectives
- Diachronic word-formation focuses on changes relating to links of the individual formants with the particular bases, the result being information about the productivity of the individual types of word formation. Diachronic syntax deals with symptoms of the gradual changes of language only spoken into the language of written texts and the development of specific syntactic features of written language. The development is contrasted with the present-day situation in the individual territorial dialects as in only-spoken varieties of language. The necessary prerequisite for participation in the course is Old Church Slavonic and Proto-Slavonic. Students will be provided a) a complex view of the development of word-formation of nouns, adjectives and verbs, b) basic information about the syntactic development of Czech.
