- Course objectives
- The main goal of this course is to present some important contemporary concepts and theories of image, viusion and visual arts.
- Syllabus
- What is an image? Image and work of art. When is art? Imagination-creative act. Meaning, intention, intentionality. Presence of a work of art. New approach to iconology, body as image-medium, empathy and understanding. Directiove and depcitive pictures, affordance, agency. Vision and visuality, does vision have a history? Art and mind Gaze Work of art and culture: context and habitus. Subject/object. Art as a process. Limits of representation, trauma and representation, representation of Holocaust. The end of art, death of image.
