Course objectives
This course is aimed at individual reading of Japanese prose and poetry published in English, Czech or other translations. The objective is to become familiar with the main works of Japanese literature, its renowned authors and the topics its deals with, and to acquire a deeper understanding of Japan’s cultural and social background. Publications are to be found in the Main Library, individual choices too are welcome.
Syllabus
  • Due to the nature of the course- individual reading- the coursework is based on the students’ individual work. Regular consultations about read novels and their topics, however, are recommened.

Assessment methods
A critical essay of 3000 words and an interview will serve as a basis for assessment.
