- Course objectives
- At the end of the course, students will be able to: work with German theoretical texts of varying kind; read and intepret a number of theoretical texts (reviews, studies, drama, authorial commentaries, contemporary documents etc.); analyze the texts; watch and understand a performance in German; translate German texts into Czech (parts of both theoretical texts and dramas will be translated in the course).

- Introduction to the course, interpretation of short texts (lyrics)
- Analysis of reviews (on a drama, theatrical study, and a performance)
- Study of a historical document + terminology (a dictionary of terms)
- Interpretation of a theatrical manifesto/address
- Reading (and translating part) of a chosen dramatic text
- Watching a performance + analysis
- A comparison of several translations of a passage from a theatrical study with its German original (German, English, Slovak, Czech)
- Reading, analyzing (and translating part of) three theatrical studies
