- Course objectives
- In the centre of the course is traditional understanding aesthetics as a theory of beauty. This conception is historically demonstrated on theories of e. g. Plato, Aristotle, Hume, Kant, Tolstoyi. Modern variations of theories of beauty are duscussed, namely works of Beardsley, Mothersill, Zangwill. Continually, arguments on behalf of objectivity of beauty are built. Consequencies for aesthetical concepts in general, for truth of aesthetical judgments, for a role of subject in evaluating process, for an importance of dividing line between so-called low and high in art follow from one exact concept of beauty.
