- Course objectives
- The main objectives of the course are the following: basic knowledge of phonetics and phonology. The lectures will deal mainly with general information about this linguistic discipline, the system of vocals and consonants in standard South Slavonic languages in contrast aspect and in comparison with Czech; main terminology, phonetic and phonological transcription, rules of orthography. The seminars will concentrate on a certain South Slavonic language, practical exercises on pronounciation of the vocals and consonants, terminology in the concrete languages. At the end of the course students will - be able to demonstrate the knowledge of Slavonic phonetics. - have a broader and more solid understanding of key aspects of linguistics. - have a broader and more solid understanding of key aspects of comparative study of Slavonic languages - be familiar with Slavonic grammar - contrast and compare Czech and other Slavonic languages

- Terminology: phonetics, phonology, phonem, phon, vocalic system, consonants, accentuation in South Slavonic languages in comparison to Czech language, enclitic, proclitic, orthography, Latin alphabet, Cyrillic alphabet, basic transcription. 1. General characteristics of phonetics and phonology, basic terminology 2. System of vocals in South Slavonic languages - contrastive view 3. Sonants in South Slavonic languages - contrastive view 4. Consonants in South Slavonic languages - contrastive view 5. Elements of suprasegmental level of language 6. Orthophonics, ortography, graphic systems of South Slavonic languages - contrastive view 7. Work in the language seminar I – view of the certain language terminology 8. Work in the language seminar II – vocals and sonants 9. Work in the language seminar III – oclusive consonants 10. Work in the language seminar IV – semioclusive consonants 11.
