Course objectives
The course is designed for students of various programmes. It provides a choice from a range of topical themes from modern Czech literature. Students will learn new interpretations of some important literary works and tendencies (in the past, some of them were neglected from an ideological point of view). Special attention wll be paid to comparative aspects in relation to other literatures and to other humanities.
At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and explain some basic trends in the history of modern Czech literature, its relation to cultural history and to other literatures; work with information on specific themes; make reasoned decisions about the value of individual books, tendencies, schools; make deductions based on acquired knowledge while reading other books, and apply them in other courses.
