Having been through Introduction to Phonetics and Phonology and Spoken Fluency in BA studies and/or Pronunciation Varieties in MA studies at this department or similar seminars elsewhere is an advantage.

Course objectives
At the end of this course students will: A) discern the variety of speaking styles in English; B) cultivate their own spoken English to match their purposes at the Academia and elsewhere.
Syllabus
  • Students will study the specificities of spoken language as opposed to written. A shortcut to spoken fluency skills and their synthesis will be provided by students themselves, each taking up the skill he/she is strong at. Social styles of spoken English will then be studied with specific focus on speaking styles at University.

Interactive presentations provided by the teacher and by the students in turns.
