- Course objectives
- Students will master an overview of significant schools of thought, figures, and works of the history of the individual national literatures (Greek, Roman, English, American, German, Scandinavian, French, Spanish, Russian, and Polish) – from classical antiquity to the Enlightenment (Selective survey of world literature I, spring 2015) and from the Enlightenment to 1945 (Selective survey of world literature II, autumn 2015). The newly acquired knowledge will enhance the students’ understanding of the significance of world literature for the development of Czech literature in the Central European cultural area.

- A test in the e-learning system and a summary from one of the lectures. In order to pass the course, students must achieve at least 50% in each of the 3 e-learning tests and write a summary (2-3 standard pages written in Word) from one of the lectures of their choice.
