Course objectives
Following the footsteps of Gianni Rodari and Bianca Pitzorno, two well renewed writers for children, students will "play" with Italian: by creating their own rymes and stories, they will focus on the linguistic and structural elements of stories and fairy tales.
Syllabus
  • The course will be based on two parts: the first - theory - will focus on the literal metalanguage used to describe and talk about stories and will focus on the structural elements of fairy tales as analysed by Vladimir Propp; the second - much larger than the first one, and more practical - will focus on class workshops which will lead the students to analyse language and structure of an Italian fairy tale and then create stories and rymes of their own. Improvisation will be part of the game in order to make students work in a more personal way.
