- Course objectives
- The aim of this course is to give information on the Sami people, an indigenous ethnic group living in Scandinavia and Russia. The students learn through texts, pictures and various audiovisual recordings.
- Syllabus
- The first chapter gives an introduction to the problematic of the Sami ethnic group, including the most important points. The following chapters describe the history of the Sami people in various time periods as well as their languages, religion, and culture. One of the important topics is reindeer herding, which is a major part of the Sami way of life.

- Teaching takes place exclusively through online course.
- Assessment methods
- In order to pass this course the students need to fulfill the following requirements: 1. Achieve at least 70 % in every test. 2. Achieve at least 70 % in the final test. 3. Write an essay (at least 2 500 characters long) on another ethnic minority living in Scandinavia or a topic that has to do with the Sami people. 4. Fill out a questionnaire at the end of the course.
