- Požadavky k zápočtu: 1) účast na týdenním workshopu ve výzkumné stanici v Panské Lhotě – konzervace kovových artefaktů 2) samostatné zhotovení jednoduchých odlitků archeologických artefaktů 3) praktická znalost postupu laboratorního zpracovávání archeologických nálezů z příslušných objektů 4) zásady evidence.

- Course objectives
- Course description: Training in practical techniques of cleaning, conservation and restoration of archaeological artefacts, especially ceramics and metals. 5-day intensive workshop in Panská Lhota focused on theoretical introduction to the archaeological artefact conservation methods, combined with metal conservation laboratory practice 2 hour laboratory practice weekly (at Arne Nováka 1, Brno). Excursion in to the ÚAPP laboratory in Brno. Special learning materials + conservation manual.
- Syllabus
- (1-8: 5-day intensive workshop in Panská Lhota; 9-14: Laboratory practice on Arne Nováka 1, Brno; 15: Excursion in to the ÚAPP laboratory in Brno.) 1. Introduction to the archaeological artefact conservation methods. 2. Conservation of metal artefacts. 3. Conservation of organic and problematic artefacts 4. Conservation of ceramics and precious metal artefacts. 5-8. Metal artefact conservation laboratory practice and evaluation of the workshop. 9-10. Laboratory practice: ceramic fragments cleaning, sticking, completing and colouration. 11-12. Laboratory practice: casting of small items, preparation of mould and plaster, casting itself. 12-14. Laboratory practice: principles of primeval finds processing, their classification and recording within settlement features. 15. Excursion in to the ÚAPP conservation laboratory in Brno.
