- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students will be able to:
reproduce nominal and verbal paradigms studied within the course (see syllabus of the course);
explain grammatical rules studied within the course;
use basic Latin grammatical terminology associated with the grammar studied within the course;
translate elementary Latin texts using a dictionary;
explain the functions of selected syntactic structures;
demonstrate relations between roots of selected Latin words and Czech loan words. - Syllabus
- Present and imperfect subjunctive mood of all conjugations and the verb esse. Their use in simple sentences.
- Use of present and imperfect subjunctive mood in subordinate clauses (UT clauses, cum historicum).
- Perfect indicative tense (active and passive voices).
- Cardinal and ordinal numbers.
- Ablative absolute.
- Indicative of the pluperfect and future perfect tenses (active and passive voices)
- Future participles and the supine. Past and future infinitive.
- Nominative with infinitive construction.
- Perfect subjunctive and plusquamperfect subjunctive active and passive.
- Indirect questions, use of subjuntive in selected clauses (cum historicum, conditional clauses), sequence of tenses.

- Teaching methods
- Lectures, practice (translating, grammar exercises). Regular class attendance and homework are required.
- Assessment methods
- Requirements for successful completion of the course: passing the final written test covering all the grammar studied so far(grammar test and translation of a Latin text, with accompanying questions; passing score: 75%); filling in questionnaires available in the IS (minimum passing score: 70%); active class participation. Class attendance is obligatory, every student can miss two lectures during the semester without leave. For more details, see Teacher´s information (only in Czech).

Information on course enrolment limitations: Nelze získávat kredity za další latiny pro nelatináře, jejichž obsah je totožný (studijní řád, čl. 8 odst. 4). Při studiu dvou románských jazyků lze zapsat pouze na jednom oboru.
