Course objectives
Basic theoretical presentation of Croatian morphology and word formation, similarities and differences with Czech language, knowledge of specific Croatian linguistic terminology. At the end of the course students will
- be able to demonstrate the knowledge of Croatian morphology.
- have a broader and more solid understanding of key aspects of linguistics.
- have a broader and more solid understanding of key aspects of comparative study of Slavonic languages
- be familiar with Croatian grammar - contrast and compare Czech and Croatian language
Syllabus
  • Basic terminology (morphology, word formation, morph, alomorh, ending, suffix, prefix, etc); word classes - comparison of the characteristics of the Croatian and Czech word classes, comparison of the principles of word formation in both languages.
  • 1. General characteristics of morphology, basic terminology 2. Substantives 3. Adjectives 4. Pronouns 5. Numerals 6. Verbs(formal point of view) 7. Verbs(semantical point of view) 8. Adverbs 9. Prepositions and conjuctions 10. Particles and interjections 11. Word formation I. 12. Word formation II.
