- Course objectives
- Graduate of the course will be oriented in the plenty of various interpretational attitudes toward the work of arts. Thanks to the readings and analyses of specific texts the student will achieve the methodological skills for erudite and contextual interpretation of modern work of art.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be informed about the actual ways of interpretation of modern work of fine arts and taught how to grasp and interpret it meaningfully.
- Syllabus
- Radical changes of the representational paradigms in visual imagery of the 20th century. Interpretation of Cubist images. Treachery of Images by René Magritte. Conceptualism of Marcel Duchamp. Interpretation of abstract paintings. Interpretation of interactive works of art. Quotation, allusion and recycling as a poetic strategies in contemporary art. Necessity of contextual interpretation of work of art in postmodern plurality of interpretations. Obstacles of over-interpretation.
