Course objectives
Continuation of normative grammar of the Attic dialect of Ancient Greek. The aim of the course is to present a general survey of Ancient Greek grammar to students; teach them how to handle authentic texts and use dictionaries.
At the end of the course, students will be able to analyze complex Greek sentences; explain the use of concrete grammatical features in Greek sentences; understand more complex authentic Greek texts with the use of dictionaries;
Syllabus
  • The reading of the Gospel according to Luke with special focus on the following grammatical features: optative and subjunctive moods, perfect stem, temporal and final clauses.

Teaching methods
Planned learning activities and teaching methods consist of lectures, grammar exercises and reading of continuous Greek text. Students are required to translate and gramatically analyze particular chapters in advance at home with the use of vocabulary. During the classes, the text is translated and the grammar is explained.
Assessment methods
Credits are awarded for the successful passing of the written test consisting of a translation of the passage from the Gospel according to Luke and its grammatical analysis.
