Course objectives
Medieval Latin is a historico-cultural and linguistic phenomenon, continuing the old traditions of the Latin language and the literature of Classical Antiquity. The course on Medieval Latin provides a comprehensive overview of this continuity and highlights the main characteristics of Medieval Latin and literature as upholders of spiritual culture in both the European and Czech Middle Ages. The course also presents Medieval Latin as a language of historical sources and diplomatic documents. It outlines all the information about the sources and specialized literature for the further study of this topic.
