- The course is aimed at students enrolled in masters programme of the Department of Film Studies and Audiovisual Culture with various levels of progress in their thesis; with the exception of freshman students, who are encouraged to enrol later in their studies.

- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to assist students with their master project on multiple levels - with their methodological background, with their writing style; with the structure of individual chapters and/or the whole thesis and finally with securing precise and persuasive argumentation.
- Learning outcomes
- After finishing this course students will be able to:
- employ key methodological concepts suitable for individual research projects
- present their MA thesis, its individual chapter(s) or a particular research issue(s)
- employ the basic principles of academic writing (detailed outlines for each chapter, editing various drafts)
- to provide their colleagues with feedback - Syllabus

- Teaching methods
- During the semester, each student will be:
- presenting his or her MA research
- selecting key methodological chapter for others to read
- giving direct peer-review to his or her colleague
Student presenting in the following session has to choose a methodological paper/chapter (30 pages max) for others to read.
Students are encouraged to consult their upcoming or finished presentations after each session. - Assessment methods
- The attendance at all seminar sessions is mandatory. Each student will be presenting and choosing reading for the rest of the group once in the semester. Every student must familiarize himself/herself with the reading prior to the session in order to be ready for discussion.
In the end, students are required to write a paper 15 to 20 pages long, which elaborates on the presented topic. This essay should be treated as a part of the masters thesis - either as an early draft for the chapter or its final version. - Language of instruction
