Cíle předmětu
The aim of this course for the participants is to acquire the knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of teaching English to speakers of other languages and thus to lay the foundations for the participants to become effective teachers of English when they expand their knowledge and combine it with their practical skills development during the course UZAJ203 - Practice teaching - in the following semester.
By the end of the course participants will have been introduced to and have a basic understanding of:
1. How learners acquire the four Language systems (vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, functions)and Language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing).
2. What is involved in order to effectively teach the Language systems and skills to speakers of other languages.
3. What classroom management comprises, how and when to correct learners' errors, and the steps necessary in order to plan a lesson effectively.
By the end of the course the participants should also have a sound knowledge of and be able to use the basic terminology found in current ELT literature.
Výstupy z učení
By the end of the courses the trainees will have: - considered how learners acquire the four language systems (vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, functions)and language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing).

- a sound knowledge of and be able to use the basic terminology found in current ELT literature.
Osnova
  • The course comprises weekly face to face input sessions and 2 online sessions which deal with the teaching of the systems and skills in English. The following topics will be addressed during the semester: 1.Course introduction + what makes a good teacher? 2. Classroom Management 3. An Introduction to Teaching Vocabulary 4. An Introduction to Teaching Pronunciation 5. An Introduction to Teaching Functions (Online) 6. An Introduction to Presenting Structures: Meaning, Form, Use 7. An Introduction to Teaching Listening 8. An Introduction to Teaching Reading 9. No Session - Use this time to consolidate what you have learnt thus far... 10. An Introduction to teaching Writing (Online) 11. An Introduction to Presenting Structures II: Presenting checking 11. An Introduction to Teaching Speaking 12. End of semester quizzes or revision session
