- Prerequisites
- The course is intended for students of master degree studies. Basic knowledge on history of European baroque painting in 17th and 18th century is presupposed.
- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- The course introduces selected chapters from the history of the baroque ceiling painting in Central Europe and Italy.
- Learning outcomes
- After finishing the course student should be able to:
- describe the specifics of ceiling paintings in the 17th and 18th century;
- describe the main iconographic topics of the baroque ceiling painting and explain their meaning;
- prove a basic orientation in the field of “concettismo” - Syllabus
- “Concettismo”: art concepts and their creators, the visual arts and theory of the rhetoric.
- Iconography and iconology: typical themes and motifs of wall paintings and the period art theory, a light and the sun as symbols in the Baroque painting.
- Wall painting cycles in prophane buildings, quadri riportati.
