Prerequisites
The course is offered as a priority to students of the first year who experience gaps in their knowledge of pronunciation rules, i.e. orthoepics. Secondarily, students who failed the  follow-up Fonetics and French Phenology course in year 2 can apply to the course. In the case of unfulfilled capacity, so do students of other years or disciplines.

Course objectives
The aim of the course “Phonetics of French and Correction of Pronunciation” is to explain French pronunciation and its principles and offer hands-on practice of newly acquired knowledge in order to improve the students’ pronunciation.
Learning outcomes
Upon completing the course, the student will:
- have an overview of the principles of French pronunciation
- be aware of typical pronunciation errors in the French language
- be able to use the acquired knowledge in practice and eliminate errors in his/her own pronunciation
Syllabus
  • Practical exercises aimed at problematic phenomena of French pronunciation such as nasal vowels, front rounded vowels, open and closed vowels, mid-vowels, stress etc.
  • Includes explanation of basic pronunciation principles, dictations, practice of tongue-twisters etc.
