- Course objectives
- The aim of the two-semester course is to train the students to achieve the level of biblical Hebrew. The course is focused on work with terms and the ability of their correct reading and transcription. During the second semester the students will broaden their knowledge of morhopology of verbal flexis, basic prepositions and basic principles of Hebrew syntax.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course the student will be able
- to read simple biblical verses with vocalization and translate them;
- to compare translation of these verses with various translations into other languages
- search in a dictionnary for verb according to their root;
- to use basic vocabulary;
- to use basic grammatical rules;
- to identify the verbal root and derive meanings of other words from it. - Syllabus
- Strong verb, basic root kal and its forms: perfectum, imperfectum, participle active and passive, imperative, infinitive, cohortative.
- Expressen of tenses.
- Pronoun suffixes and their use in Hebrew.
- Nouns with pronoun suffixes.
- Some propositions with pronoun suffixes.
