- Course objectives
- The course develops the knowledge acquired by students during the course Ethnic Processes and Europe I. It makes the students familiar with with the ethno-genesis of ethnic communities (Slavic) in Europe.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students should be able to describe the ethnogenesis of Slavic nations. They should be able to analyze ethnic issues and ethnic conflicts (the Balkans).
- Syllabus
- 1. Basic literature (encyclopedias, dictionaries, compendia).
- 2. Ethnogenesis of Western Slavs (Czechs, Polish, Sorbs, Polabians).
- 3. Ethnogenesis of Eastern Slavs (Russians, Belarusians, Ukrainians).
- 4. Ethnogenesis of Southern Slavs (Slovenes, Croatians, Serbs, Macedonians, Montenegrins).
- 5. Ethnographic regionalisation and differentiation.
- 6. Typical demonstrations of traditional culture.
