- Course objectives
- The ability of methodological confrontation and methodological transfer.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing this course, the student will be able to understand methodological practices of disciplines other than the one he/she is studying and will be able to make methodological comparisons or methodological transfer.
- Syllabus
- The course consists of block lectures devoted to linguistic literary and historiographical reflection. Methods of Analysis and Interpretation, Assoc. Mgr. Jan Tlustý Ph.D. The seminar will introduce and critically evaluate key interpretive approaches to the text in the context of the main literary theoretical trends of the 20th century and today. Individual methods will be reflected on their paradigmatic starting points, as well as their analytical potential in the interpretation of specific texts will be examined. ROMDJK Multilingualism and Culture, prof. PhDr. Petr Kyloušek. The seminar will provide an orientation on the issue of the linguistic and cultural interface and its usefulness for literature, both in terms of diachrony and individual cultural regions. CJDSL002 Critical Work with Data, prof. Mgr. Radek Čech, Ph.D. and prof. PhDr. Klára Osolsobě, Dr. The aim of the seminar is to teach students the basics of quantitative analysis of linguistic data. Basics of quantitative data analysis. Descriptive and inferential statistics. Perspectives on data analysis. LMD_002 Textual Criticism II, Mgr. Vlastimil Brom, Ph.D.,doc. Mgr. Petra Mutlová, M.A., Ph.D., prof. PhDr. Jana Nechutová, CSc., prof. PhDr. Michaela Soleiman pour Hashemi The aim of the course is to introduce students to the practical aspects of textual criticism with a focus on medieval manuscript material of Czech provenance.

- The output is an essay of 18,000 characters, which will be assessed by the supervisor. In the essay, the PhD student will characterise the methodological specificities of all the fields presented, comparing them with the field he or she is studying to establish similarities and differences.
