- Course objectives
- This language course is a direct continuation of Practical French I, building on the acquired bases in order to progress towards the B2 level of the CEFR. Emphasis on vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, listening, speaking.
- Learning outcomes
- Output level of language according to CEFR: B1-B2.
At the end of this course, students should be able to: understand longer texts of various types; understand longer audio and audiovisual materials which include regional or sociocultural varieties of standard spoken French; use complex grammatical structures and showcase a good command of vocabulary on given topics; interact with a relative degree of spontaneity; present a basic argumentation in written and spoken form; write simple, well-structured narrative and argumentative texts. - Syllabus
- • Vocabulary topics : emotions and senses, the professional sphere, politics, economy, ecology, media and information technology
- • Grammar topics : subjunctive and infinitive mode after expressions of obligation, emotion and uncertainty; past tenses in detail (passé composé, imparfait, plus-que-parfait) ; past conditional mode and expression of past hypothetical situations; future past tense ; use of logical connectors and linking words (text structure, reason and effect, opposition, purpose, condition)

- Teaching methods
- Seminar-style teaching with active participation and focus on student interaction. Partial flipped classroom technique: self-study of grammar and vocabulary and self-training of reading and listening skills.
- Assessment methods
- Continuous evaluation (formative assessment): active participation (maximum 2 absences allowed), self-study of vocabulary and grammar, regular writing exercises with mandatory self-correction, portfolio with various tasks. Final evaluation (summative assessment): oral and written exam.
