- Course objectives
- The course is an introduction to basic approaches to analysis of spatial distribution of population, its composition and development. The course is organised in three sections. The first of them introduces to the development of population geography, defines units of analysis, offers an overview of population data sources and principal methods of their analysis. The second part deals with origin, development and distribution of population in the global context, including prognoses of future development. The third section provides a background in demography, especially in analysis of proceses of natality, mortality, nuptiality, divorces and abortions, and age structure. A special attention is paid to the place of the Czech Republic in the population development of Europe and world. Seminars focused on practical acquirment of analitical methods are an integral part of the course.
