- Course objectives
- The course checks-out abilities of students to interpret geology of Central Europe especially from the viewpoint of plate tectonics and to connect data from various courses. The evaluation is aimed at universal geologigal outline.

- 1. Bohemian Massif and its position in the framework of the European Hercynides 2. West Carpathians, basic division, Meliata Unit and Vahicum 3. Brno Unit (Brunovistulicum) 4. Fenosarmatian platform 5. Eastern Alps, basic division 6. Geotektonic cycles in the territory of the CR 7. Platform development of the Bohemian Massif in the Mesozoic 8. Platform development of the Bohemian Massif in the Tertiary 9. Platform development of the Bohemian Massif in the Mesozoic 10. Volcanism in geological history of the CR 11. Geosynclinal ideas, pre-flysh development in various orogens in Central Europe 12. Flysh, lithology, examples from geological history of Central Europe 13. Molasse, lithology, examples from geological history of Central Europe 14. Continental rifts; characterization from the viewpoint of morphology, volcanism, seismicity, sedimentation, metamorphism. Karst, genesis, principal karst regions in Central Europe 20. Impact structures - genesis, characterization, localities. Tektites - moldavites. Impact crater Nordlingen Ries in Bavaria.
