- Syllabus
- Thematic content of the test: 1 Structural geology, general concepts, principles, methods and principles of classification structures 2 Geometry of deformation: - The main types of variables that determine the deformation (Stretch, extension, elongation, shear, shear angle, elipticity) - Strain Ellipse, strain ellipsoid - Deformation of the competent bed in cross-section and in 3D - Methods for strain determination 3 Kinematics of deformation: - Simple and pure shear, asymmetrical structures 4 Dynamics of deformation: - Variables: force, stress vector, stress state (tensor) - Normal and tangential stresses, maximal stress, Mohr's construction 5 Mechanisms of deformation: - Rheological properties of materials, basic types of deformation of the continuum (Elastic, plastic, brittle) - External factors of deformation (temperature, pressure, strain rate, fluid pressure) - Deformation of crystal, lattice defects, dislocations - Mechanisms of crastal deformation (dislocations, Weertmann creep, Nabarro-Herring creep, mechanical twinning) - Brittle deformation, angle of internal friction, Mohr's envelope, the main types of brittle fractures 6 The primary structure - Classification of primary structures, geological bodies - Sedimentary structures, sedimentary indicators (facing, flow direction, the direction of inclination of the bottom, regressions) - Igneous structure (flow structures, depositional structures - cumulates, fractures in magmatic rocks) ring structures (subvolcanic structures) 7 Non-tectonic deformation - Diapirs - Collapse the structure (calderas), impact structures - Landslides, olistolithes - Structures forming by volume changes (compaction), diagenetic structures - Glacitectonic cryotectonic structures 8 Homogeneous deformation - Tektonites L, S, L-S - Preferred orientation and preferred arrangement 9 Folds - Geometrical elements of folds, classification according to the geometric elements (Including Fourier harmonic analysis, Ramsay classification) - Genetic clasifications of folds (mechanisms of folding) - The relative age of the folds (re-folded folds, other relationships) 10 Faults - Geometric elements of the faults, classification based on diferrent geometric elements - Size groups of fault structures (cleavage, joints, faults) their description, classification, formation - Genetic types of fault structures (tension faults = veins or dykes, shear faults - normal, inverse, dextral, sinistral slips, compression - stylolites) - Determining paleostress 11 Orogens and platforms - nappes - description, classification, formation, documentation - Construction and development of orogen - Geosynclinal theory - Tectonics of platforms 12 Plate tectonics - Principles of plate tectonics - Evidence of plate tectonics and contradictions - Characteristics of the interplate boundaries - The possible causes of plate motion (why convection currents don't move with plates!) 13 The overall composition of Earth - Basic structural composition of Earth, characteristics of geospheres - Evidence for the existence of the building - Creation of the Earth, the evidence
