Course objectives
The aim of this field course is training of student skills in assessment of environmental risks and potential management of selected sites. All measures will be oriented on nature conservation, student will propose fundamental remedies focused on sustainable development of the site.
Syllabus
  • The lessons are presented in five days: 1. Introductory meeting: students choose and than prepare own theme for selected excursion which they will present in the field. 2. Excursion focused on forestry, game forests, forest preserves and conflict between nature protection and recreational activities. 3. Excursion focused on river ecosystem, fish-pond management and floodplain forests. 4. Excursion focused industrial areas, initial succession stages including secondary steppes and landfills. 5. Excursion focused on quarries, their recultivation and activities of non governmental organizations in nature conservation.

Teaching methods
Presentation of lecturers during the field excursion. Preparation of student presentation of nature conservation problems of selected taxonomical group (aquatic/terrestrial invertebrates, aquatic/terrestrial vertebrates).

Classified credit based on report prepared for assessed site on selected theme.
