- Course objectives
- speak and write about oneself, life, his or her hometown and studies, Masaryk University;
use basic specialized chemical vocabulary;
understand simple authentic chemical texts, formulate the main ideas idetify specific information in a specialized text;
summarize a simple chemical text;
practise language functions in English: how to describe, classify, compare and calculate, to write a short text using the language functions;
prepare a presentation on simple chemical topics using basic presentation techniques;
understand authentic specialized audio materials;
discuss general and chemical topics;

- Teaching methods
- Course of English for Special Purposes; specialized text analysis (main idea, questions, comprehension, summary), listening comprehension, video materials, conversation and discussion in pairs and in groups, presentations in plenary; applying grammar in new contexts; group writing; homework; blended learning (interactive materials, listening, dril in IS MU).
- Assessment methods
- Active work in the course, doing assignments and 80% seminar attendance are compulsory. Each course is concluded with a credit test. The passing grade of the credit test is 60%.
