- Course objectives
- In this course the students will be acquainted with basic archeological periodization and development of the Prehistoric settlement primarily in the Moravia region. An emphasis is placed on the life style and ways of living in the individual phases of Prehistoric Era. At the end of this course the student should be able to: define the individual phases of Prehistoric Era with focus on Moravia); classify the major cultural areas with respect to the individual phases; explain, how the groundbreaking discoveries in technological processes changed the lives of individuals and the population; apply the theoretical knowledge in communication and cooperation with archeologists.

- Student bude po úspěšném absolvování předmětu schopen identifikovat a shrnout důležité rysy archeologických kultur v České republice a na Slovensku.Bude umět popsat charakter lidí v jednotlivých archeologicky definovaných kulturách na zákaldě výsledků antropologického výzkumu.Bude se orientovat v základní archeologické a antropologické literatuře. Bude umět napsat semestrovou práci která mu umožní lépe přistoupit k bakalářské práci.

Complex hunters and gatherers (upper paleolithic)(21/10/2020) 4. The final era of Hunters (mezolithic)(4/11/2020). 5. The firs farmers (neolithic)(11/11/2020). 6. People and the beginnings of metal era (eneolithic). The Case of Oetzi (18/11/2020). 7. People and the Bronze (Bronze Age)(25/11/2020). 8. People and the Iron (Hallstatt Period)(2/12/2020). 9. First civilization. The Case of Celtic period (9/12/2020). 10. In the shadow of Roman Empire. The Case of Germans (16/12/2020). 11. Prehistory of Slovakia (6/1/2021). 12. Exkursion to the Moravian museum (MZM). 13. Exkursion to the Archaeological Museum in Pavlov. 14. Evaluation of semester works.

- Teaching methods
- Theoretical preparation in form of on-line lectures is complemented with excursions to significant moravian museums. The students also work individually on selected topic related to prehistory of Moravia in form of a seminar paper.
- Assessment methods
- The course is concluded by an combined exam. Before the student can take the exam, it is required that he/she completes and hands in a paper on an agreed topic related to course content. Exam includes a written test (free answer) and an oral exam. After completing the admission test (75 % successful answers required) an oral exam (in form of discussion) follows on the topic of one of the selected individual areas covered in the course.
