- Course objectives
- The main objective of the course is to provide a complete overview of morphology, structure and composition of human skeletal system.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course the student should be able to:
- summarize the factors influencing the morphogenesis during the pre- and post-natal development;
- describe the elements, structure and composition of human bone tissue;
- explain the principles of growth, development and maturation of human skeleton;
- describe the metabolism and biomechanics of human bones;
- decide on the sex of an individual based on the sexual dimorphism of human skeletal system; explain the variability of the skeletal system;
- recognize the varieties and pathologies of the skeletal system; interpret the evolutionary and culturally-induced skeletal modifications;
- describe the macro- and micro-evolutionary trends. - Syllabus
