- Experimental Animal Biology and Immunology (programme PřF, B-EMB)
- Molecular and Cell Biology (programme PřF, N-MCBE)
- Course objectives
- Main objectives of this course is to to allow student to understand the conception of life, characters of living organisms. Student will be able to explain functions of tissues, organs and the animal life cycle and reproduction.
- Learning outcomes
- Student’s skills after graduating the exam: - description of tissue structure within the four main tissue type categories - description of the organ structures in animal organisms - interpretation of the relationship between structure and function of tissues - knowledge of baseline phylogenetic aspects of development of organ systems
- Syllabus
- Histology and organology - Summary • The course consists of 12 theoretical lectures and 12 practical exercises. The content is basically separated in three parts: baseline embryology (1 lecture), general histology (5 lectures) and organology - microscope anatomy of vertebrates (6 lectures). The practical exercises are focused namely on microscopic examination of prepared samples, associated with the mentioned topics. • 1) Embryology • 2-6) General histology - different types of tissues, their characteristics, markers and descriptive examination, origin and associated functionality, structure. • 7-12) Organology. cardiovascular system, blood and immune system, respiratory systems, urinary and excretory organs / systems, GIT, nervous systems (both central and peripheral components and sensory organs/tissues), reproductive systems, body coverage, skin. Endocrinous systems and regulatory systems in general. Ontogenetic origin and development of the specified systems and tissues, structure and functions.
