Course objectives
The course is focused on the use of various methods for measuring the physiological processes of plants in indoor cultivation and in natural habitats, as well as measuring abiotic factors in their surroundings. Students will gradually learn to use the basic measurement technique for monitoring the plant's response to environmental abiotic stress factors.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to choose a suitable device for detecting the level of one of the environmental factors and measure it reliably. Students will also be able to determine the plant's response to environmental factors using selected measurement methods.
Syllabus
  • Principles, advantages and disadvantages of various sensors for measuring radiation and temperature. • Principles, advantages and disadvantages of different sensors for measuring wind speed and air humidity. • Principles, advantages and disadvantages of different sensors for soil water potential, gravimetric soil water content. • Measurement of changes in the concentration of carbon dioxide and oxygen. • Field data collection using measurement centers. • Use of gasometric methods in natural conditions • Use of fluorometric methods in natural conditions. • Use of reflectometric methods in natural conditions • Use of additional measurements in controlled laboratory conditions in ecophysiological research. • Principles of analytical data synthesis using mathematical tools.

Lectures (principles of methods), laboratory projects.
Assessment methods
Writen test containing 15 questions, at least 10 of them should be answered correctly. Elaboration of protocols with results of solved tasks.
