- The defining properties of the group, the multiplication table, the subgroup, the class. Symmetry elements and operations. The point symmetry groups, classification of molecules. Matrix representations of a group, characters. Selection rules for electronic excitations. Applications to the molecular vibrations and to the chemical bonding.
