Syllabus
  • Thermodynamics, system and surroundings, functions of state, internal energy, enthalpy, heat capacity.
  • Entropy, Gibbs energy, chemical equilibrium.
  • Activity, ideal and non-ideal systems, standard states, chemical potential.
  • Phase equilibria, phase rule of Gibbs, Clapeyron equation.
  • Solution-solvent equilibria, perfect solution, Raoult's law, Osmotic pressure.
  • Principles of non-equilibrium thermodynamics, entropy production, symmetry principle of Curie and Prigogine, Onsager principle.
  • Electrolytic equilibria, dissociation, solubility, activities of ions in solution, Debye and Hueckel limiting law.
  • Electrochemical cells, Galvani voltage, charged interface, electrodes.
  • Adsorption, colloids, solutions of macromolecules.
  • Chemical kinetics, elementary reactions, Arrhenius equation.
  • Interactions of light with substances, refraction, absorption, fotochemical reactions, coloration of substances.
  • Principles of spectroscopy, absorption and emission spectra, resonance magnetical spectroscopies.
