- Solvent effects and solvent classification. Pericyclic reactions, Woodward-Hoffmann rules. Reactive organic intermediates. Aliphatic nucleophilic substitution. Elimination reactions. Addition to carbon-carbon multiple bonds. Addition to the carbonyl group and related reactions. Aromatic electrophilic substitution. The problem of ipso-substitution and o/p ratios. Aromatic nucleophilic substitution. Radical reactions. Molecular rearrangements.
