Course objectives
The course for the students of molecular biology and microbiology covers basic information on atomic nucleus, radioactive decay, absorption and detection of ionizing radiation, isotope effects, and principles of the use of radionuclides and radiation in biology and medicine.
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic informations 2. Atomic nucleus. 3. Types of radioactive decays, and kinetics of decay. 4. Properties of ionizing radiation. 5. Methods of detection of ionizing radiation. 6. Biological effects of ionizing radiation. 7. The use of radionuclides and ionizing radiation in biology and medicine.
