- Course objectives
- This course is a logical counterpart of the lecture Structure and Reactivity. It discusses all the details of the chemical transformations and at the same time the physico-chemical methods which are used for the mechanism elucidation.
- Syllabus
- 1. Art of writing the reaction mechanism. 2. How chemistry studies the reaction mechanisms. 3. Reactive intermediates. Radicals, carbebes, nitrenes etc. 4. Pericylic reactions. Selection rules. 5. Nucleophilic aliphatic and aromatic substitution. 6. Eliminations. 7. Electrophilic aromatic substitution. 8. Additions to C=C bond. 9. Reactions of carbonyl compounds 10. Rearrangements. 11. Free radical reactions. 12. Oxidation and reductions. 13. Transient metal catalysis. 14. Photochemical reactions.
