- Course objectives
- The aim of the lecture is to offer the overview of the form of the landsurface and the processes which create it. Partly, attention is also paid to the submarine features and to the landscapes of the major solid bodies of the Solar system. Although the lecture is devoted to all main themes of the modern geomorphology, the most attention is devoted to process geomorphology, human impact on landforms and applied geomorphology.
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
to learn the main genetic groups of landforms
to understand the landforming processes
to understand the climate change influence on the dynamics of landforming processes
to evaluate the human impact on landforms
to apply the geomorphological knowledge within the landscape planning and management - Syllabus

- Teaching methods
- Structure of seminars is as follows: 1/2 hour methods of landforms investigation, there are presented six topics during the semester (methods of geomorphological research, analysis of landforms: morphography, analysis of landforms: morphometry, methods of morphostructural analysis, geomorphological mapping, delimittaion of elementary geoforms); 1/2 hour explanation and discussion of the topics from the previous lecture; 1 hour student presentations of the chosen landforms. Two voluntary field excursions are offered during the semester.
- Assessment methods
- The final grade is a product of two writen tests which must be passed in the middle and the end of the semesrter, oral exam and in some case of other activity (some extra credit for the winner of the photography contest - the best photo of a landform, participation on the voluntary excursion).
Presumptions for granting the credit:
- presentation of the report on chosen landform
- passing two written tests - Language of instruction
- Czech
