- Course objectives
- Part I: Selected problems of the structural chemistry and bonding in homopolyatomic cations, Zintl ions and other main group elements clusters are discussed and solved.
Part II is devoted to the training in complex chemistry, extraction chemistry and selected radioanalytical methods.
The aim of the course:
- to help students to understand the chemical bonding and geometry of molecular cages and clusters found in the elemental state as well as in chemical compounds;
-to promote student's skill in the use of Wade's and Lipscomb's rules for the structure prediction of main-group cluster species and to develop their ability to rationalize the observed structures by the PSEPT electron count. - Syllabus
- The content of this theoretical course corresponds to the syllabus of the lecture C4010 Inorganic chemistry III.
