- Course objectives
- Through the course, students will get familiar with theoretical base of the quality of life research (definitions, dimensions, domains, indicators, models, approaches etc.), the methodological background (e.g. using quantitative, qualitative and mixed approaches and methods) and a wider range of advisable bases of applied research (e.g. study of quality of life in the specific territory, creation of outputs potentially usable in planning, local government, etc.).

- 1. introductory lecture - the concept of quality of life and its importance, literature and electronic resources
- 2. quality of life - the content interpretation and the definition, metaconcepts
- 3. basic dimensions and domains of quality of life
- 4. criteria and indicators of quality of life
- 5. structural models and approaches to research
- 6. development of the concept of quality of life
- 7. multidisciplinarity of quality of life
- 8. geography and quality of life - the role and status of geography in the quality of life research
- 9. geography and quality of life - time and space in the research framework, outputs for praxis and application
- 10. urban quality of life
- 11. applications in geography and methodological background - objective dimension - socio-demographic domain, the concept of quality of living conditions
- 12. applications in geography - subjective dimension - perception of quality of life, satisfaction research
- 13. synthesis of knowledge, presentation, popularization and practical usability of research results
