- Course objectives
- The aim of this practocal training is to make students familiar with basic methods used for measurements of physiological parameters in plants. During the course the large cultivation experiment is realized and complexly evaluated.
- Learning outcomes
- Passing successfully through this course, students should be able to:
measure basic physiological characteristics of higher plants using modern methods and instruments;
treat obtained data statistically and present them in an appropriate form;
interpret obtained data with respect to the plant physiological functioning. - Syllabus
- Measurement of osmotic and water potential of plant tissues.
- Transpiration rate measurement.
- Cultivation experiment focused on the effect of selected nutrients deficiency on plant growth and functioning.
- Measurement of the ion exchange between plant roots and environment.
- Measurement of the respiration rate.
- Test of heavy metals phytotoxicity.
- Construction of the light curve of photosynthesis.
- Measurement of photochemical processes of photosynthesis using chlorophyll fluorescence.
- Measurement of chlorophyll a and b content.
- The preparation of samples for analysis and analytical techniques.
- The impact of growth regulators on plant growth na development in in-vitro cultures.
