- Course objectives
- The goal of this course is to provide general basic knowledge about biochemical and molecular aspects of pathobiological processes and use of biochemical tests to obtain diagnostic information. The course is focused mainly on analytical aspects and methods in in clinical biochemistry.
At the end of the course students should be able to:
understand the basic physiological events in healthy human organism;
understand and explain relationships between analytical parameters determined in clinical biochemistry laboratories ans their diagnostic indication;
interpret basic non-physiological results and give them into a context of the potential disease - Learning outcomes

- Assessment methods
- Written exam. The written test emphasizes understanding connections and rules when performing analyses in Clinical Biochemistry. Huge emphasis is placed on understanding the laws of enzyme kinetics and the rules both necessary for determining the activities of enzymes and for their use as analytical reagents. Attention should be paid to the real possibility of detecting the investigated analytes. All the necessary parts are discussed in detail during the lectures, where the lecture expands the study material uploaded in IS, and this joint information is sufficient to pass the exam. In the case of self-study, an independent study of the necessary literature is required.
