- Course objectives
- Learning outcomes of the course unit is to acquaint students with the basic methods of remediation and practical acquiring of knowledge on methods for deciding on the appropriate method of remediation.
- Learning outcomes
- Acquiring mechanisms of contamination and damage to environmental compartments. Acquisition of principles and methods of decontamination and remediation of soil and objects. Adoption of facilities and technical facilities for decontamination and remediation.
- Syllabus
- 1) Introduction to the problem. Soil. Contaminants of environmental media. 2) Pollution of soil and the environment by industrial and agricultural activities 3) Basic methods of decontamination, remediation and cleaning. Natural detoxification and decontamination routes. 4) Physical and mechanical methods of decontamination and remediation. 5) Chemical and biochemical methods of decontamination and remediation. 6) Biotechnology and microbial remediation. 7) Special features of decontamination and remediation technologies and procedures. 8) Special features of decontamination and remediation of major industrial accidents, natural disasters and armed conflicts. 9) Analysis of valid legislation of the Czech Republic and the EU. 10) The role of state administration and public institutions. Liability of legal and natural persons.
