Programme board meeting minutes Faculty: ECON: Faculty of Economy and Administration Name of the degree programme[1]: Economics and Public Policy Type: Bachelor's degree programme The Chair of the Programme Board: David Špaček Number of degree programmes in the Programme Board: 1 Date of the meeting: 12.09.2024 (online) Name Position David Špaček Guarantor of the degree programme Milos Fišar Academic staff of the degree programme Martin Guzi (not participated) Academic staff of the degree programme Robert Jahoda Academic staff of the degree programme Ondřej Krčál (not participated) Academic staff of the degree programme Vojtěch Müllner Academic staff of the degree programme Lorena Maribel Chávez Reyes Student representative Martin Kollárik Employer/graduate representative 1. Evaluate the past year of the degree programme implementation (e.g. admissions, academic failure, final state examinations, internationalization). If the degree programme includes a distance or combined study plan, also focus on evaluating these plans. Please specifically address the results of the student quality assessment (subject survey and other instruments), what measures have been taken, and with what results. There have been no significant changes to the programme structure during the last academic year. Only one minor change was reported (a change in a guarantor of the course on Czech language). Available information still indicates a low number of applications as well as student actually studying the programme. Available information on this is summarized in the following table and they are considered in tasks for future below. Year Applications submitted Recommended to accept Accepted Students enrolled Active studies Students failed Graduates 2021 11 4 4 0 2022 26 15 13 9 9 2 0 2023 24 17 17 8 17 2 0 2024 12 12 12 14 0 Especially people in the age between 17 and 22 from developing and transition countries apply for the programme (e.g., from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Nigeria or Ghana). The actual number of students who enrol is impacted by this (by visa requirements applied for these countries). The input obtained in course surveys is limited. Between 14 and 58 % of students enrolled to courses participated (some students were not in the EPP programme). Only one course received more negative critique (average above 4 – ‘disagree’ with statements in the satisfaction survey). If this critique will be reported in the following academic year, the guarantor will contact the guarantor of the programme. No negative feedback was reported by the student member of the board, Lorena Maribel Chávez Reyes, she pointed to a suggestion of one student whether law-oriented course can be added to the programme. 2. Describe the significant and non-significant changes in the degree programme during the last evaluation period (typically since the previous Programme Board meeting). No significant changes have been made in the programme structure. Only one minor change was done (change of guarantor (in the case of the course Czech Language for Beginners 1; ESF:XPJ_CLB1) and the course structure has remained the same. 3. Describe the extent to which the objectives have been achieved, evaluate the development plan you have drawn up during the last evaluation and formulate the goals for the next period. Last year, when the programme board met for the first time, the objectives stated in the below table were agreed. The guarantor is quite open in recommending acceptance of students for the programme (during the admission procedure). He needs to obtain more information about ways how the programme is being promoted and whether this is also evaluated by the responsible faculty body. That is why he will consult their employees and will discuss future promotion strategy for the programme. Possibilities to balance time schedule were discussed with people from the studying department. According to them, more significant changes are not possible due to a busy schedule at the faculty. No remarks regarding long blocks of complex courses were reported in the student survey or by Lorena, so no changes in the schedule of programme are expected. The objective of the degree programme development Measures leading to the objective implementation Implementation of measures (year or cycle) Make effort to increase the number of applicants to the programme More focused promotion of the programme using the promotion mechanisms of the Faculty and the key departments participating in the programme (Department of Public Economics + Department of Economics) On continuous basis Try to balance the time schedule of programme in order to avoid long blocks of complex courses. Changes to the programme timetable made in close cooperation between the guarantor, teachers and the studying department of the faculty Academic year 2024 Discuss and decide the role of the course on econometrics in the programme Discussion between the guarantor and partners from the Department of Economics Academic year 2024 or 2025 The role of the course on econometrics was discussed with the Head of the department of the programme and the Programme board members. They agreed that students of the programme would benefit from inclusion of the course on econometrics in the programme. The course was not included yet due to short real duration of the programme. The guarantor will discuss the possibility and necessary steps related to inclusion of the programme with the faculty body responsible for quality of programmes (incl. methodological guidance in this area) and will inform about this the programme board members. Based on the meeting of the programme the following objectives and measures were agreed: The objective of the degree programme development Measures leading to the objective implementation Implementation of measures (year or cycle) 1. The inclusion of a law related course will be discussed during the next programme board meting. During Academic year 2024/2025 4. Find out how practitioners are involved in teaching.
