Minutes Meeting 5 April 21st 2010 6:30pm Meeting called by Dale Kalina Attendees: Dale Kalina, Stuart Hopkinson, Jon Phillips, Bhavin Doshi, Shan Keshri, Roshan Photay, Adriano Mendes, Luis Cyrillo, Roye Mauthner Additions: George Abraham Vasco Neves ­ Absent due to Doctors appointment Introduction Board will be meeting at the weekend to go to the Health Insurance place to convert your EU health card to Czech rep. This is for the board to know where to do the procedure and so that we are able to encourage others to do the same. Info about this will be posted on the website in due course. Sports- In the last week a MIMSA cricket event was organised and did not go through the relevant people for a MIMSA event. The people involved simply want to advertise that they are having a cricket session at a given location. It has been agreed that the MIMSA Facebook group Wall can be used for members to post things like this. However, MIMSA will not be organizing the event currently and therefore will not be taking responsibility for it. Formal requests for funding and support for such events need to be submitted to the board formally for review. The Forum on our website will take over from the Facebook group wall in the future once the emphasis switches to the Website rather than Facebook. Orientation Week Schedule for Orientation Week Sunday September 12 13:00 welcome event? Separation into groups? Welcome dinner or meal of some sort? Monday Sept 13 Full day of perhaps tour of Brno and or registration with MIMSA? Maybe some educational seminar rotations? Tuesday-Thursday Sept 14-16 Late-morning: registration of new students Afternoon/evening: event? Friday Sept 17 Presentation from Dean Tour of Bohunice Evening event (Pub quiz?) Saturday 18 MIMSA Weekend: plan something.. Sunday 19 MIMSA Weekend: plan something.. Monday ­ Friday 20-25 First week of school--No planned evening events Friday 25 Perhaps an evening bar night? With old groups or something to talk about the week` or something? Saturday Day in the Park with IFMSA and ISC Sunday: End event?? We could do something that has a projector or something showing pictures from the past week? Proposed idea of having a Scavenger hunt around the City in order to help people know where to go. Public Relations General meeting posters to be sorted out and Facebook event to be opened. Event to be created for Nikos` talk to gauge the interest in the event and see whether it will continue to go ahead as planned. Majales application has to be submitted Cyrillo met with Martin Kubat and is co-ordinating with the IFMSA to make a basic handbook for new students A section of Brno Life needs to be created and Cyrillo would like assistance from us with this (suggestion of using the social committee) Social MIMSA CUP Sunday May 2nd Maximum of 12 teams With a separate section for Female teams The idea of a barbecue has been proposed and we are waiting for correspondence from the venue of whether we may have one there. Prices Players: cardholders- 80Kc Non-cardholders 150Kc Spectators: Cardholders 20Kc Non-cardholders 40Kc For this event as normal the ISC and IFMSA are counted as being Cardholders. Education Niko talk- He will be co-ordinating with Joseph Kure of the ethics department. The content is to identify and advise on the stress and anxiety associated with our exam system. 4th year electives ­ results still to be confirmed and relayed to Helena Course feedback forms have been made and are being delivered to the students in the future- the emphasis has been put on the clinical years but, they also want feedback from all of the lower year subjects. Idea in the future has been to have group reps to replace year reps so that we have an idea of things that effect specific groups, at the moment we have reps that are sometimes inaccessible to students not in the same group. The idea of academic advisers has been passed as, we believe that there are no students that possess the required knowledge to assist. So, the idea of having seminars with small groups of students in which an upper year student can advise has been started. IT New computer has arrived! Backing up will happen in the next week and then we will switch to the new computer system. Since George is back in town, the progress with the website has increased and we are now able to edit it and update it. Has been decided that the benefits of using a new med.muni.cz email are not relevant to us anymore so we will be keeping the info@mimsa.cz one with the possibility of having personal MIMSA emails for board members in the future. The website will have an FAQ section. Roye now needs all the materials which each department needs for the website- at the moment the website is broken and it is currently being updated and a new version made- We currently cannot upload picture but, in the future will be able to. A section on enrolment into sports needs to be made as at the moment it is very confusing.
