aZLPP0241 Vacational Training in Preclinical Dentistry

                      Description of the summer vacation practical training:


Duration: 3 weeks (90 hours)

The course takes place after the 2^nd semester/1^st year



Place of training: Facilities of the Dental Laboratory and Dental Surgery


Prerequisites:  aZLPR0232c Preclinical Dentistry II - (credit)

                          aZLPT0221   Prosthetic Technology I – Materials - (credit)


Course of training: Students work under the supervision of a dental technician. Students are
obliged to observe the principles of work safety and use the prescribed protective aids.


Practice in the dental laboratory: assistance and performing simple tasks (1 week)

Practice in the dental surgery: assistance and performing simple tasks (2 weeks)



Content of the practical training:


Practice in the dental laboratory – 1 week (30 hours)


 1. Pouring of the alginate impression with plaster, removal of the plaster model, shaping of the
model.
 2. Fabrication of a model for fixed prosthetics – divided model with removable dies.
 3. Laboratory processing of metals and resins including composite resins - demonstration.
 4. Laboratory procedures for fixed denture fabrication (crowns and bridges): full crowns, veneer
crowns, fused to metal-ceramic crowns, jacket crowns.
 5. Laboratory procedure for fabrication of removable dentures of classes I, II, and III.
 6. Laboratory procedures for full denture fabrication.
 7. CAD-CASM technology (if the equipment is available in the laboratory).


Practice in the dental surgery – 2 weeks (60 hours)


1.    Preparation of the dental surgery.

2.    Selection of instruments for the individual treatments.

3.    Dilution of decontamination solutions and disinfectants.

4.    Decontamination of instruments, their preparation for sterilization, manipulation with
sterilizers (under supervision), sterilization journal.

5.    Preparation of materials – filling materials, impression materials.

6.    Assistance during dental examination and treatment of a patient.

7.    Cleaning of the dental surgery after work (disinfection, instruments maintenance and
storage).

8.    Information on the operating rules of dental surgery.

                                 RECORD OF THE PRACTICAL TRAINING:


The records of practical training and student evaluation serve as a document confirming the
completion of the required training and entitle the student to gain credits. The confirmed record
of the completed practice must be submitted before the 1^st October 2024 at the latest to the
Homework Vault of the course aZLPP0241 Vacational Training in Preclinical Dentistry in the IS. The
submitted documents are checked and awarded credits by the study officer.
